Do's and Don'ts while Selecting Nano DAP Fertilizer

Nano Di-Ammonia Phosphate (Nano DAP), another revolutionary product in agriculture by IFFCO, is a nanotechnology-based fertilizer which provides nitrogen and phosphorous to plants. The introduction of Nano DAP by IFFCO has a unique property that allows it to enter the seed via the surface or through stomata and other plant openings. Unlike conventional fertilizers, Nano-based fertilizers have an advantage in terms of surface area to volume which makes it easy for the plant to consume essential nutrients. The future is in favour of Nano-technology based fertilizers thanks to their efficiency & effectiveness.

Nano DAP fertilizers promote sustainable agriculture and are ushering India towards a self-reliant era of fertilizers. The growing need to use fertilizers is due to the high demand for food however, farmers need to conduct thorough research before applying any fertilizers. Examining the soil properly is important because there is a gap in research on Nano-based fertilizers; excessive use of it can have negative impacts too. Even though the price of Nano DAP fertilizers is slightly higher than a conventional 50 Kg bag of DAP, it is more efficient to store and transport. Additionally, it reduces dependency on imported DAP, thereby boosting the nation’s economy.

Below are the do’s and don’ts for you to understand it better: -

Do’s

In terms of time and dosage of application: -

  1. For seed treatment, 3-5 ml of liquid Nano DAP is required for every kg of seeds.
  2. For root treatment, 3-5 ml of Nano DAP needs to be diluted per litre of water.
  3. For foliar spray, 2-4 ml per litre of water needs to be sprayed at the foliage stage and the 2nd spray at the pre-flowering stage.

In terms of seedling treatment for all types of crops:

  1. For seedling treatment of cereals, 3-5 ml per kg of Nano DAP needs to be diluted per litre of water.
  2. For pulses, 3-5 ml of Nano DAP fertilizer is required per kg of seed.
  3. For oilseeds, 3-5 ml per kg of seed.
  4. For vegetables, 3-5 ml per kg of seed.
  5. For cotton, 3-5 ml per kg of seed.
  6. For sugarcane, 3-5 ml per litre of water.

In terms of days after germination with DAP spray of 2-4 ml/litre:

  1. For cereals, after 30-35 days of germination.
  2. For pulses, after 30-35 days of germination.
  3. For oilseeds, after 30-35 days of germination.
  4. For vegetables, after 30-35 days of germination.
  5. For cotton, after 30-35 days of germination.
  6. For sugarcane, 45-60 days after planting.

Don’ts

  1. Do not mix Nano DAP by IFFCO with random chemicals.
  2. Do not prepare the solution with contaminated water.
  3. Do not use pre-mixed and stored solutions.

Benefits of Nano DAP

Boosts Crop Yield: Treating seeds and applying Nano DAP during their vital phases of growth can enhance the crop nutrients availability which, in turn, gives better yields. Additionally, it results in an increase in chlorophyll content in leaves, photosynthesis rate, root biomass, as well as the number of effective tillers and branches.

High Quality Food: Foods that are cultivated using liquid Nano DAP by IFFCO are found to be rich in protein and other nutrients after getting ripe.

Eco-Friendly: Using Nano DAP fosters sustainable agriculture and ensures environmental safety by reducing soil, water and air pollution.

The sole idea behind producing Nano-based fertilizers is to make farming easy and sustainable. Adopting Nano DAP fertilizer while leading the country towards the Green Revolution, is also a significant accomplishment towards achieving the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to make India self-reliant.
